This unit focuses on two key elements of makeup
within the fashion industry, the concept of the brand and how this is
represented within beauty imagery. This process of creating a brand relevant
beauty look is only achievable through the development of makeup concepts from
initial ideas into a final image. This is explored
through a vast degree of research and planning all of which influence the final
design. Within this unit the focus will remain on a representations of
Spring/Summer 2016 beauty trends whether this be through a high street or
high-end brands personal style. In addition the work must reflect a sense of
both a sense of the artists individual style but also the professional nature
of the brand itself.
The brand element of this project is heavily
based within the research and definition of the selected cosmetic company that
is chosen. When analyzing this aspect and conducting research the 5 P’s should
be consistently acknowledged, including Product, Packaging, Presentation,
Promotion and Price Point. This analytical research should be accompanied
alongside both visual and written responses that supply an in depth
understanding of what is expected from the brands aesthetic. This knowledge
will further shape an understanding of why certain products have become and
remain staple items within numerous makeup kits throughout retail and the
professional industry. This research will then translate into the visual
results that construct the beauty aspect, whereby the design work and final
outcomes establish an understanding of not only the theoretical knowledge
behind the look but also the technical skills acquired for the final creation.
